GREENSBURG, PA – The National Fraternity of Kappa Delta Rho is proud to honor David Westol with the Fraternity’s Robert D. Lynd Interfraternal Award, which recognizes non-members of Kappa Delta Rho who have made outstanding efforts in advancing the fraternal movement through acts of service and leadership. The award is named after the Fraternity’s Past President Robert D. Lynd who gave selflessly of himself to further the Fraternal Movement. The award will be presented at the 103rd National Convention in Clayton, Missouri on
Dave Westol is an alumnus of Michigan State University and the Detroit College of Law. He served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Kalamazoo County, Michigan for nine years and tried over 55 felony cases before juries and as Executive Director/CEO of his fraternity for 18 years. Dave now owns and operates Limberlost Consulting, Inc. in Carmel, Indiana and provides a wide array of services for non-profit organizations, national men’s and women’s fraternities and sororities and colleges and universities. Dave begins his 31st season as a high school football official in August.
Dave has made over 5,500 presentations regarding hazing, risk management, motivation, values and ideals and leadership on over 480 campuses and at over 400 national men’s and women’s fraternity and sorority leadership events. He has facilitated and made presentations at eleven men’s national fraternity presidents’ conferences including Kappa Delta Rho, Phi Kappa Psi, Kappa Alpha Order and Delta Chi. He has presented, “Hazing On Trial” over 2,300 times since 1981. In addition he has made presentations regarding risk management at the Interfraternity Institute (IFI) hosted by Indiana University on a number of occasions and served as a Fellow—a small group advisor–at IFI in 2008, 2009 and 2010. Dave served on the faculty for the Interfraternity Board Institute sponsored by the FEA in 2008, 2009 and 2010 and co-presented on, “Boards that make a difference” at THE Foundations conference sponsored by the NIC in August of 2009, 2010 and 2011. He has participated in the Fireside Chat session of the NIC Jon Williamson Futures Quest program every year but one since its inception in 2008 and participated in both sessions in December of 2015 and January of 2016.
Dave has consulted with and facilitated sessions for the boards of directors for 24 men’s and women’s national fraternities and sororities since 2007.
This is only a brief example of David Westol’s selflessness and impact he has made on the Fraternal Community. The Brothers of Kappa Delta Rho are grateful for all of the efforts of Dave Westol to promote and better the Fraternal Community.
