After a week filled with stress, tears, friendship and smiles, Greek Week 2010 has come to an end at the University of Detroit Mercy.
Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority and Kappa Delta Rho fraternity emerged as the winners. Gamma Phi Beta sorority and Sigma Pi fraternity finished second, with Kappa Beta Gamma sorority and Phi Kappa Theta fraternity in third place.
Strength, integrity and emotion were tested through means of human pyramids, trivia and athletic competition. In pursuit of winning, a new competitive face of the Greek community was unveiled.
Joe Colombo, a senior Kappa Delta Rho member, was very involved, participating in six events this year.
“To prepare for the week, we practice the events starting about two weeks prior,” Colombo said. “We try to finalize who is doing what at the beginning of the week to avoid confusion and disorganization. We just cheer on our members for each event and just tell them to do their best and have fun.”
The week long event concluded with Air Bands. The air band dance competition is always full of clever ideas and themes that bring laughter to the audience. This is the event that makes or breaks the competition for the Brohters and Sisters participating.
