Brother John L. Blakely, a member of our Eta Chapter at the University of Illinois, is honored and remembered with the award for Outstanding Philanthropic contribution . Brother Blakely served as Kappa Delta Rho's National President from 1946 to 1950. In 2000, the National Fraternity's Board of Directors voted to approve a philanthropic concept known as KDR Kids. This venture was an effort by all KDR Chapters to support philanthropic organizations that benefit children in a positive manner. In 2014, the National Fraternity's Board of directors voted to make Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation the Fraternity's official philanthropic focus. The B+ Foundation provides financial and emotional support to families of children with cancer worldwide. They also fund critical, cutting-edge childhood cancer research.
This award is given in two categories-small chapters of under 25 brothers, and large chapters of over 25 brothers.
